London, England
This is a lunch-with-Tara day. Downtown via Stockwell on the Northern line, then a transfer to the Victoria line and on down to Green Park and one more stop to Oxford Circus. Off the tube, up the stairs, exit onto Oxford Street, then a right turn a very few steps later onto Argyll Street with the black and white facade of the Liberty department store in the distance a couple of blocks away. Down the street to the street that Liberty fronts onto, across the street where the cars were nose to tail and stopped for the light, and no other-way traffic. A right turn to Regent street, then a left along Regent for a couple of blocks, past the little alleyway entrance toward Carnaby Street. A right turn at the crosswalk across Regent, then a left turn on the other side of the street and a walk past the Ferrari store. A bright red F-1 Ferrari inside the store and a bunch on Ferrari stuff (like watches and driving shoes and cuff links, etc) in the window, but no street cars for sale inside. After looking in and gazing longingly for a while at the race car, I moved on to New Burlington Street and a right turn down the street. At the end of the block is Savile Row (savill, not sa-ville), and a left turn for about 30 paces, then a left into Tara's office building.
Up to the 5th floor, collected Tara, then down again and off to Mother Mash, a lunch spot that Tara attends frequently, about a half block from Carnaby Street.
Then retracing our steps back to Tara's office, and then I hiked back to Oxford Circus tube stop after a short detour to Starbucks to put some stuffing back in myself and get out of the rain for a moment. Can't complain, this is the first spatter Jan and I have had for almost two months. Then the tube back via Stockwell.
Bought some good steaks on the way home to Balham, at Sainsburys, beef filet. I got three, as it is me and Leanne and David for dinner tonight, Jan is at Tara's for the evening as Jonathan is away playing golf near Faro in Portugal. I cooked them perfectly, medium rare, with baked potato and grated cheese. Wonderful, everyone was happy. Early bedtime.
