Rhodes, Greece then sailing toward Santorini, Greece
I bailed again today on this tour, I was tired this morning. Jan, ever the trouper, was up and eager and out the door by 7:45am. I always admire her.
She was home to the ship again by quarter to one in the afternoon, a short hop to the island and a quick tour. She told me the following story:
Toured through old town and the Grand Master's Palace. A quirky interesting art display by New York artist Nicos Linos portrayed costumes by Maria Callas made from old recycled pop cans. Contemporary and amazing, amid the medieval ruins. Drove up to mount Philamaris, with superb view of the Mediteranean and Agean seas, and Rhodes. The avenue of Knights Templar showed their crests and the huge white cross at the end of the avenue could be seen from all around Rhodes.
Lovely town but a lot of repicas, not originals, much restoration in progress to lure the tourist dollars, as tourism is the mainstay of the Island's economy.
