Chilliwack, B.C. to Vancouver, B.C.
Pea Soup dinner with Garry and Marion and Amanda last night, followed by all of the packing that the last minute is needed for. For me that is, Jan was ready on time beforehand, as usual. And I was not, as usual. Problem is, if I do things early then I forget what I have done, or second-guess it, and have to tear it apart to see what I have been up to, and then re-do it. Better to leave it to the end and only do it once.
This morning Garry drove us to the Greyhound bus terminal for the 10:05 bus, after a good waffle breakfast for all of us at home. Our bus was a continuation of a journey from Prince George, and after the Chilliwack passengers boarded the thing was full to overflowing. Jan was offered a seat by a passenger, but I wound up standing in the aisle all the way to Langley. So, down the highway, passing cars and trucks, six of us standing in the center aisle, and I'm thinking that this should be illegal, we should get a ticket. You couldn't do this in a car, or a camper, or an RV, walking around or standing up, that's illegal. But not on a bus, where the passengers don't even have seat belts when sitting, let alone standing, buses must be a special case because they NEVER have accidents. Oh, they do??? Anyway, these thoughts occupied my mind as we roared down the road.
Arrived in Vancouver, taxied to the hotel, then out for a hike about town. Went off toward English Bay and the Sylvia, into Stanley Park by the tennis courts, down by Lost Lagoon, along the inner harbour, past the Convention Center, down into Gastown. Early dinner at the Spagetti Factory and struck by the thought that we should bring some Spaghetti and Mizithera Cheese to 'the girls' as a treat, so we ordered dinners to go for them.
Then out on the road again, waddled up to the theatre district and saw a movie - 'The Lincoln Lawyer' - an excellent movie that we highly recommend. Finally, back to the hotel after a good day. Down early, travelling tomorrow.
