Praha, Czech Republic
A late start today, still a bit tired from yesterday. We did some internet work, we have a great connection here, then out for a hike to the train station.
That was harder than we thought. We chose the wrong path and found that 'you can't get there from here', there were seven lanes of traffic in front of the train station and no lights or pedestrian crossings. So we backtracked about ten blocks and crossed at Wenceslas square, then went down the opposite side of the street from where we thought, and had to stay on the street right against the buildings. Learned that one the hard way too. Finally arrived at the station, reached by a large underpass beneath the very busy roadway.
Then we found that getting a train to Nurnberg was harder than we thought. In fact there are only two per day. One at 5:04 in the morning (!?!!) and the other just after noon. Considering that we want to be in Kronach tomorrow evening, and the connections being what they are, our choices narrowed down to only one. Yes, that's right, we're taking the 5:04 am train tomorrow morning. So we bought the tickets, our car number and our seats are reserved, we just have to get ourselves here in the morning. The ride is nearly five hours, so once we get started we should be able to nap a bit along the way. Then another ticket in Nurnberg on a regional train, and we are off to Kronach to see Angie Paul, who was our fitness instructor on the Tahitian Princess last year. She is a wonderful young lady, Jan worked with her a lot and really enjoyed her, and we look forward to seeing her.
For the rest of this afternoon we wandered Praha again, back down to the old town and the 'Astrological Clock' and dinner on the old square. More traditional Czech fare, goulash in a bread bowl. With beer and wine, of course. We did some final shopping, lots of wandering and people watching while having coffee at Starbucks on Wenceslas Square, and enjoying the sunny day. This is three days in a row of sunshine, and the locals are really impressed. They say it isn't usually like this, but they'll take it if they can get it. We're delighted that the weather gods still smile on us. Somehow I don't think that our luck will hold once we get to London. Or Chilliwack for that matter.
Home at a reasonable hour tonight. Shutting down now so we can pack everything, tomorrow morning will come early. Back to Germany, almost like going home since we have been there before and had a good time. But we'll be more northerly this time.
