One more night in Faro on the Algarve Coast of Portugal. we've rested up here, toured a bit, and celebrated Jan's birthday today. Leanne and Tara both called this morning and Jan felt very good about that. A gift that Jan and I both gave to Jan is to get the web pages up to date with the images, and she has sent out some very overdue emails, sorry about that to those of you who were convinced we'd fallen off the end of the earth. No, nothing that dramatic, we've just been busy and the email is much spottier and more difficult to come by than I had thought would be true. Anyway, Jan feels much better now being current, and thank you all for your patience.

Not much by way of story or images today, we've kept a low profile getting caught up, napping, and celebrating Jan's birthday. We've neglected our responsibilities as tourists to go and photograph everything in sight, drive madly about in all directions, and spend a bunch of money. We're so ashamed. We'll do better tomorrow, but all we have for you at the moment are an image of our hotel home du jour, and one of the pool that Jan shot this morning at breakfast. Oh, and another image of a farmer's back yard that we took out our hotel room window, a neat headless scarecrow which seems to work as there are no birds bothering anything back there. And one more, a trick waterwheel, maybe. We don't really know, and it doesn't move so maybe its just a pile of unrelated pieces that he piled back there just to confuse the tourists. Some days Jan has 2000 images to go through, trying to narrow the list to 20 maximum. Other days the pickings are pretty slim. Tomorrow we will scoot out of here, headed east for the first time on this journey. We have to get to Seville, Spain, before we can turn south as we head to our objective for tomorrow night, which is Cadiz, Spain. It will take us an hour longer than the wall clock says, as Portugal and the UK are in the same time zone whereas Spain, France, and the rest of Europe are one hour later. Here in Portugal we are eight hours ahead of Vancouver time, just like the girls in London. When we get to Spain we will be nine hours ahead of Vancouver time.

We'll try to keep the web page more current going forward. But if it gets in the way of our nap time, it may slide again.
