Day 59:

Woke up early, rested, and got out to the street early too. Went down to the 'Smithsonian Castle', the original Institute building, and bought coffee, a muffin, a tee shirt, a hat, and a christmas ornament. Then worked our way east through the various Smithsonian venues.

I exposed myself to Art this morning. Art screamed and ran away and I just smiled, pervert that I am.

We visited the Freer Asian Art Gallery, the Hirshhorn Art Gallery, the Gallery of the American Indian, the Sculpture Gallery, the Haupt Gardens, the Museum of Natural History, and the Air and Space Museum again. Our tails were dragging by the time that was over and just sat on this great wide boulevard (called The National Mall) between the Capitol Building and the Washington Monument, panting, and watching Washingtonians 'en Promenade'. Walked the shopping areas a bit, just to finish it off right, but didn't buy anything. Home to the hotel for dinner and the evening.

A lovely place, each Smithsonian venue demands 2 or 3 full days to see properly, at minimum. We skimmed the surface. The Hope Diamond is the last image.

The destination for tomorrow is Durham, NC.
