Day 50:
Stayed at a Bed-and-Breakfast in Parrsboro last night, first time ever. Funny feeling to stay in someone else's home like that, paying for the privilege and not interacting like friends. A lovely Austrian couple, with a young son about 10 or so, the inside and outside of the place fully decked out in halloween gear. Fun, great breakfast, we'll definitely do it again.
Went to the local tourist attractions of Partridge Island and Ottawa House, built by a former Prime Minister and visited in its day by the illuminati of the time. Looked like it had been shuttered for a couple of seasons, only used now as a site to watch the Fundy tides. Went to the local Tim Horton's (should have bought that stock) for coffee before getting on the road, and struck once again by the fact that the town and its haunts were filled with old men and women. Where are the young people? Gone, no jobs and no future. Actually, we came here because our waitress a couple of days ago was born here. She left, no work at home, to be a waitress in Truro's Pizza Delight restaurant. Don't get me started again.
Drove north under blue skies into New Brunswick, then west to St. John where we saw the sights and had dinner. Then on to St. Stephen to spend the night. Crossing the border tomorrow to the US, then south. Mornings clear and cold now, frosty, the days sunny but not really warm. Snow is threatening say the locals, it will be early like last year. They also tell us, frequently, that they were in Vancouver at some time or other and loved it, especially the weather. Oops, makes us think that we better head for the warmth quickly now. Originally we planned to head to London in late October out of Washinton DC. Instead, we went in late September out of Montreal. We had a spectacular time, wouldn't change it for the world, but it has shifted the seasons on us now and we better get out of here while the roads are clear.
