La Connor, Washington to Home
As Shakespeare said, "once more unto the breach, dear friends, else close up the wall with our drunken dead!". Well, sort of said. Anyway, hung over once again, one last time, our day begins. Still eight friends, no disagreements among us, lots of adventure, a few scrapes and bruises, and a lot of fun although a certain amount of liver damage has undoubtedly been sustained. Promises of abstinence from almost all of us, ecxept Garry who is the only one who has not drunk to excess.
A gathering in the parking lot, comparing chaps and how Doug's had saved his legs when he went down. Shane still skeptical, thinks chaps are gay. I agree with shane but don't take mine off cause I've already packed my gear. On the road we go.
About an hour later we reach a parting of the ways. Some of us are heading north to the Blaine crossing, some of us north and east to the Sumas crossing. We are in a gas station parking lot, one more photo op of the assembled group, then on the bikes. Moving the bikes on the uneven surface, feet on the ground, Danno's bike goes over. We help him up, the bike is fine, he's fine, just one more warning from Mother Nature that what we are doing is dangerous. We part company, me and Garry and Shane headed east, the rest going north.
We made it home, Jan was so happy to see the three of us she wiggled like a puppy. And so did I when I saw her standing there when we rode down the driveway. We were happy to go on the trip, happy to be home again. That's the best that can be said. Everyone was fine. A great time.
